Can be from any function, matched to task and people needs. More than anyone else, the one who wakes up in the middle of the night worrying about the issues. |
Accountable for overall project success. Responsible for goal clarity, approach, planning, day-to-day management. |

Core Cross-functional Team (XFT) |
Key functional stakeholders in the project - the people most responsible for meeting team objectives. |
Have responsibility for delivering their function to the team, and for resolution of their function’s issues to get the team’s work done. |

Extended Team |
Other functional members required to complete team tasks. |
Typically report to team core members and are heavily task focused, often with less cross-functional interaction. |

Support |
Functional experts with specialized input to the project. May be critical but infrequent resource |
Support teams on a consulting basis. Usually given priority list of projects to optimize their functional time. Attend meetings as needed to supply their expertise. |
